The light, par le kangourou gris
Growing up I heard stories. Stories told to us by our parents, who heard them from their parents and so on. I never believed them, and you shouldn’t either. They’re kid stories; the same kind that are filled with unicorns, fairies, and rhinos (which are just a different kind of unicorns, so could never have been real). Is believing seeing, or is seeing believing? I would love to think that believing is seeing, but the latter is proven, and I like to live in reality. People love to hear and tell these stories, but I’m just not really one of them. They don’t make sense, and frankly, sound awful. So many people, animals of all sizes, insects that are constantly biting and buzzing. I can’t even imagine the smell of living with so many animals, and I’m glad I don’t have to. You couldn’t walk outside without getting burned. Imagine, your skin burning and bubbling, and even if you protected it with a constant supply of non-burning lotion, you could still develop cancer because you were outside. I can walk anywhere, any time of the day or year, and I will never have to worry about my skin boiling off of my body. What a luxury! Although I’ve never known anything else. Temperature-controlled tunnels have been perfected to the point that we wear the same clothes every day, all year round. It’s sustainable and comfortable, and much cheaper than any alternative. Of course, not all people are like me, and change their look daily, but it’s still the same pieces. No scarves or mittens or tube tops, or parkas. The few pictures that I’ve seen of the past show people wearing the most ridiculous clothing that I can’t believe the pictures are real, even though I am technically seeing them. Plus, their eyes are small, and honestly, odd looking. Evolution is quite amazing, and I love to see how humans have changed. The eyes are one of the most visible changes, with them now being a bit bigger and lighter in color. Many are the color of how they describe water in these stories, but I have never seen blue or green water. Water is clear. Speaking of, rain and waterfalls and lakes and oceans, are the only thing that I wish I could believe in, and see now. We have small bodies of water, but nothing compared to an ocean. Although, oceans are grouped in with everything else that was trying to and succeeded in killing many humans. Add in tornadoes, hurricanes, snow, wildfires, cars, the above aforementioned animals and insects. It’s not all puppies and rainbows (a saying that I cannot wrap my brain around, but I read it somewhere and thought it was funny), but I live my life in a state of contentment without fear. And everyone else does too. All travel is by tube train or walking; our food is grown by us in our home and supplemented with the exact vitamins and nutrients that we need; humans survive longer than a measly 80 years. A world with a sun? A big ball of fire in the sky providing light for the entire world? Come on, this is year 6788 not 2022. You can’t believe that junk.
